Capabilities & Expertise

    OUR SERVICES

Hudson Associates provides strategic management consulting, facilitation, training, and organizational diagnostic studies. The firm's practice is focused on strategic aspects of organizational performance, and our services are offered from a unique conceptual framework that offers three distinct approaches:
    - Diagnostic Audits(sm)
    - Strategic Change
    - Strategic Partnering (sm)

This framework is applied to the unique problems facing an organization. Using a strategic-based systematic approach to select the right tools for the job, we ensure that we adequately and completely address organizational problems and concerns.

    DIAGNOSTIC AUDIT (sm)

The Diagnostic Audit approach focuses on identification of client problem areas and the recognition of potential opportunities for organizational improvements. This approach allows organizations to determine a course of action before committing to any significant long-term costs or changes in operations.

Using our proprietary measurement and assessment instruments, in conjunction with state-of-the-art information technology licensed from both industry and the country's best research and development laboratories, we employ a conceptual approach that can quantify both the productivity and the performance of an organization - creating an exacting analysis of the present business environment. We also utilize results obtained from our annual studies of the country's largest corporations and our national normative data to provide accurate "best practice" benchmarks and performance measurements that directly relate to strategic performance.

This approach is useful for those clients who need outside assistance in identification of specific problem areas or potential pitfalls prior to commencing organizational change efforts. And our approach can also help those clients who have experienced personnel available to identify a problem, but would like to verify internally generated measurements or validate effectiveness of existing processes as the lead-in to our participation in a Strategic Change or Strategic Partnering(sm) approach.

We can provide audits and assessments related to Knowledge Management, Organizational Climate, Employee Surveys, and a variety of Readiness Assessments (used to determine whether the organization has taken the proper steps necessary to succeed in a variety of efforts).

    STRATEGIC CHANGE

Our Strategic Change services are process focused, based on identified problem areas and potential opportunities. Clients who need a preliminary assessment will find that our conceptual framework approach can fully meet those needs - beginning with our Diagnostic Audit(sm). We can complete that assessment prior to beginning this stage of our collaborative efforts so that the organization's position relative to the desired outcome can be firmly established.

For clients who have personnel experienced in strategic-based problem identification, we can provide immediate benefit to the strategic change process by supporting and enhancing efforts as a team. We can, for example, moderate internal management planning sessions; assist in revision of organizational vision, mission and objectives; develop strategies to meet organizational goals; or design tactical action plans both to carry out the strategies and to continue to measure performance over the long-run.

We work closely with our clients to develop strategies, facilitate change and to formulate plans that reflect the organization's actual needs, mission, culture and resource constraints. Our proprietary modeling tools and methologies are used to ensure that an organization creates change, rather than simply reacts to it by brining client business processes in line with strategic "best practices."

    STRATEGIC PARTNERING (sm)

Strategic Partnering offers a long-term approach to ensure that our client business processes remain aligned with those strategic "best practices" established during our Strategic Change process. Throughout the Strategic Partnering phase, we assist our clients by incorporating training that targets desired results - results that directly support continued organizational change.

This targeted approach to training is strategic-based and is designed to ensure that the organizational improvements achieved will continue long after the organizational changes are made. Our services can also include design and implementation of an organizational strategic training plan, which can serve as a road map for continual organizational process improvements.

As part of our efforts to further assist our clients by providing high quality and cost effective services, and to augment our ability to meet the ever growing need for organizational developmental assistance, we have significantly expanded our in-house capabilities and are now able to offer customized training and leadership development programs at our location through our Center for Organizational Improvement.

The goal of our Center is to provide these services in support of organizational and leadership developmental programs that primarily focus on executive, managerial and supervisory levels, and to provide these services in an environment conducive to business professionals.

    OUR PROPRIETARY TOOLS

Hudson Associates provides Strategic Management Consulting and Training (sm) services. To best support our clients we have developed a variety of strategic-based proprietary tools, models and processes that directly support our conceptual framework including

    - Diagnostic Audit (sm) is a quantitative process that we apply to problem identification, analysis and definition. We are able to accurately assess the effectiveness of all processes by applying a variety of models and processes which can be applied in tandem or individually to best meet the specific project requirements of our clients.

    - Strategic-Tactical Planning Matrix (SPM) (sm), in conjunction with our qualitative analysis of existing operations, and our quantitative analysis, this tool can be used to quickly identify which functions and activities are strategically or tactically misaligned in application. SPM is used to identify those functional areas where the competitive posture has deteriorated or to predict those that may soon fall short of goals, and to identify which activities should receive greater resource allocations and which should receive less. SPM can also definitize those activities that appear to be successful on the surface, but which upon examination may be found to be not yet realizing true potential.

    - Strategic Analysis Model (SAM) (sm) is used to clarify organizational vision, mission and objectives, and to help design strategic and tactical plans that are required to successfully support organizational change.

    - Change Assessment Model (CAM) (sm) is used to identify and assess organizational performance gaps and sources of organizational resistance to change. This model will allow organizations to best determine and implement change in an effective and efficient manner.

    - Performance Measurement System (PMS) (sm) is a process that is designed to establish and measure the efficiency and effectiveness of entire organizations or individual programs and projects, based on data collection and measurements that are directly linked to organizational strategic and tactical objectives.

    - Performance-Importance Matrix (PIM) (sm) is utilized to provide an exacting determination of an organization's competitive posture within the present business environment. This process is used to create a snapshot of the existing business environment, and to benchmark activities and processes against organizational goals and objectives.

    - Efficiency and Effectiveness Improvement Sessions (E2IS) (sm) is used to analyze and locate some of the business process problems and obstacles that the organization may or may not be aware of, and also used to document the various work flow processes.
